Middlebury's premier guide service since 1998
Anglers have long been drawn to the serenity and picturesque beauty of Vermont’s rivers and streams. Green Mountain Adventures understands this attraction and we do our utmost to provide fly-fishers of all ages and abilities the opportunity to answer the call of the water. Our half and full-day guided tours are suited for neophytes and old pros alike. We visit all rivers on the Western Slope of the Green Mountains, within an hour's drive of Middlebury.
The guides at Green Mountain Adventures have an array of excellent fly fishing areas within 15 minutes of downtown Middlebury and far beyond. Fish for wild Rainbow and Brown Trout in the Otter Creek, the New Haven and Middlebury Rivers. Float the larger waters of the Otter Creek and the White River. Explore the bounty of stillwaters, streams, creeks and tributaries in the surrounding Green Mountains. Our area also has world class fly fishing for bass and northern pike. Whatever your fly fishing goal, we can get you there.
Trip Options
Strike out on foot and conquer the many different river, stream and creek options here in central Vermont. Hike to remote brook trout streams deep in the Green Mountain National Forest. Fish the pocket water and large plunge pools of the New Haven River. Explore the long runs of the Otter Creek. Chase the seasonal Landlocked Salmon, Steelhead and Smallmouth Bass that run out of Lake Champlain. The Green Mountain Adventures Guide Staff has extensive knowledge of the area's fly fishing resources and can customize a trip to fit your preference of water type or target species. We have 3 rivers within a 10 minute drive from our shop in Middlebury and countless other rivers and stillwater options just beyond.
Allow us to guide you on a drift through Vermont's picturesque countryside. We will comfortably fish our way down the river, traversing miles of water. We will also stop to wade-fish some of the remote riffles and runs that few anglers ever walk to. Many of Vermont's large waterways do not see driftboat traffic, which makes our float trips unique. Our rafts are very comfortable and stable. These trips, in our opinion, are some of the best trips in Vermont.
The White River offers miles of floating options for fly anglers and is unique to Vermont. The larger freestone watershed offers a big river feel that is harder to find in VT and traverses some of the state's most beautiful landscapes. The White River is home to Rainbow and Brown Trout, but is also a high quality Smallmouth Bass fishery starting in late Spring. Water and snacks are provided.
Fishing for warm water species is becoming our fastest growing guided excursion. Fishing to these exceptionally aggressive fish can make for some of the most fun fly fishing in Vermont. We can float remote stretches of river and work large flies near bank side cover or toss poppers between lilypads on local stillwater. These trips provide a great option when the heat of summer is on and trout sulk, as they remain consistent from mid-May through October. Drifting is done on one of our hardboats or rafts. No tippy canoes!
