Through Green Mountain Adventures we offer professional guide services for fly fishing, kayaking, SUP, hiking, rock climbing, snowshoeing and backcountry skiing.
Top quality rental equipment from Wilderness Systems, Patagonia, Simms, Werner, Jackson Kayak, BIC, Petzl, BD, Fischer & Tubbs are provided for all guided trips.

The Mountaineer carries a wide range of cross country skis, boots, poles, wax, and accessories from Fischer, Rossignol, Salomon, Alpina, Rottefella, Craft and Swix. Our selection includes gear for the backcountry and for groomed tracks.

Meet our Team
Steve Atocha
Owner
Steve is the owner of Middlebury Mountaineer and founder of Green Mountain Adventures. Steve is a father, paddle instructor, and fly fishing guide. He spends his free time hiking to fishing holes or backcountry skiing on the Lincoln Gap.
Marion Atocha
Owner
Marion is the co-owner and clothing buyer for Green Mountain Adventures. She divides her time between the shop and working as a nurse. She is an avid hiker, swimmer and nordic skier.
Min Brown
Fly Fishing Guide
Min grew up fishing in the Middlebury area and just recently moved back to VT with his family. The local otter creek tributaries are his home away from home and more often than not he’ll be somewhere on the water.
Brewer Atocha
Manager/Kids Camp Instructor
Brewer is a recent graduate of Carleton College in MN. In his free time he enjoys reading, hiking, and playing pond hockey. Brewer currently works as the store manager and guide for our summer adventure programs.
Craig MacDerment
Fly Fishing Guide
Craig grew up in New York and found his passion for fly fishing when moving to the Green Mountain State after college. When off the water, his time is spent tying flies or planning his next fishing trip.
Abel Atocha
Retail Sales Associate/Kids Camp Instructor
Abel is a current Sophomore at Pomona College in CA. When home, he works in the shop and keeps the day-to-day running smoothly. In his free time he enjoys running, road biking, hunting, football, and nordic skiing.
Josh White
Fly Fishing Guide
Josh grew up in Vermont, and after a short stint in Maine chasing landlocked salmon and brook trout, he moved home and has been chasing trout ever since. Most days you’ll find him searching for his favorite fish, the brown trout alongside his dog. Josh has really enjoyed finding fish where he grew up and he is consistently humbled by the green mountains and all they have to offer to those who are looking!
Lorenzo Atocha
Retail Sales Associate/Kids Camp Instructor
Lorenzo is a current Freshman at Middlebury College. He spends his free time in the mountains and rivers around the state, and loves mountain biking and nordic skiing.
Jake Leamon
Retail Sales Associate/Fly Fishing Guide
Jake is a Vermont local who grew up exploring and fishing the Green Mountains. He’s a current Junior at Middlebury College and an avid fly angler who also enjoys camping and canoeing.
